DoorDash is a technology company that connects people with the best in their cities. We do this by empowering local businesses and in turn, generate new ways for people to earn, work and live. We started by facilitating door-to-door delivery, but we see this as just the beginning of connecting people with possibility — easier evenings, happier days, bigger savings accounts, wider nets and stronger communities.

Who We Are

DoorDash is a technology company that connects customers with their favorite local and national businesses in more than 4,000 cities and all 50 states across the United States, Canada, and Australia. Founded in 2013, DoorDash empowers merchants to grow their businesses by helping to solve mission-critical challenges, such as customer acquisition, on-demand delivery, insights and analytics, merchandising, payment processing, and customer support. DoorDash is bringing communities closer, one doorstep at a time.

How DoorDash Works

For Customers

Customers use DoorDash to spend more time with family, free up time for work, or to have peace of mind  when ordering for a family member in need. During COVID-19, delivery is more than a convenience — it’s  a necessity. 86% of DoorDash customers said DoorDash helped them access food during the shutdown.  68% of DoorDash customers said they wouldn’t have felt safe ordering from restaurants during the  shutdown without DoorDash.

For Dashers

People from all walks of life — from students to teachers to stay-at-home parents — come to DoorDash to  find supplemental work opportunities, delivering on average less than 4 hours per week. 90% of Dashers  deliver fewer than 10 hours per week, and the ability to choose when, where, and how to work is critical,  especially because more than 4 out of 5 Dashers say that gig work is not their main source of income.

For Restaurants

DoorDash helps restaurants compete in the digital age. Restaurants operate in all different ways with  business models as unique as the food they serve and can choose the services they need with pricing that  works for them — from a full online ordering and delivery system to delivery for catering orders. 75% of  restaurants agree DoorDash enables them to reach new customers. 69% of restaurants believe they  acquired new dine-in customers who were first introduced to their operation by DoorDash. The odds of  staying open during COVID-19 are 8x more likely for restaurants on DoorDash.

Our Economic Impact

Restaurant revenues and  Dasher income generated  through the DoorDash platform accounted for $13.2B in direct, indirect, and induced  economic activity in 2019. In 2019, the DoorDash  platform added $6.9B to  the U.S. economy that would  have otherwise not existed. Every $1 of incremental  revenue spent on DoorDash  will generate $2.37 of new  economic activity.
